Baby's First Christmas Ornament {Chipboard and Resin}

How many days left?  Can you say denial? As in queen of...?

A good friend of mine had a baby boy, and I wanted to make her something special.  A baby quilt would be out of the question since said child would be finishing college by the time I figured it out.  This is what I came up with...

I have to say, this is one of my new favorites.  I started with a chipboard "P" and painted it this baby blue color.  I cut the phrase and the year from black vinyl with my Silhouette (Rocco!).

After placing the vinyl where I wanted it, I added a couple of coats of Martha Stewart's Glitter Finish. I punched a hole in the top so I could  As with all of the resin projects I do, I sealed both sides with three coats of Mod Podge.  If you don't, the resin can seep through to the paper and discolor it.

I brushed the resin on the back side first, and left it for a couple of days to cure.  I repeated the process for the front.

Before I wrapped it up, I threaded a silver string through the top.  I enjoyed making this special gift for such a beautiful little boy and his sweet mom.

  1. That's beautiful! What a special gift for Presley and his family. I still have my first ornament and so does hubby, and we treasure the one from our son's first Christmas too. I'm sure they will LOVE that you made something so personal and lovely. Would you share it here?
