Subtle update for an old bag

No, not me! Har de har.

In addition to being a baseball mom, I have now taken on the role of cross country mom. It's a great sport with kind and motivated kids, and terrific coaches and parents. The teams run in the pouring rain or blazing sunshine. Packing for an invitational or a meet, is kind of  like going on a camping trip.

It's the closest this blogger will ever get to camping.

So I have this great bag that I've had for years. It has great organizational pockets inside and has a long enough strap to wear across your body. It's perfect to take on these cross country outings.

It needed some sprucing up.  Enter Martha Stewart paints and fabric medium.

The image is from The Graphics Fairy. I love a good flourish!  Here's a before picture...

I mixed some Chestnut Brown paint with fabric medium (both from the Martha Stewart paint line).  I downloaded the image to my Silhouette, sized it and cut it out on contact paper.

I peeled it away from the backing paper and smoothed it out onto the leather.  Using a stencil brush, I applied the paint and medium mixture over the stencil.  I carefully removed the paper from the bag and dried it with my heat gun.

I repeated the process for the leather patch on the shoulder strap.

A close up of the pocket.

I love how subtle the effect is.  There's nothing quite like a good makeover...

I have a material connection because I received a gift or sample of a product for consideration in preparing to write this content. I was/am not expected to return this item or gift after my review period.
