Skull Wreath Wall Hanging

But first, a quick update.  My craft show table is up in the living room, and I am working on displays.  I am much calmer now that it is up and I can move things around.  My feelings fluctuate from feeling pretty confident that my loot will be well received, to feeling pretty confident that I will be bringing it all home with me Saturday evening!

Mostly, I am feeling excited and happy that I decided to take the chance.  It will be an experience, that's for sure.

Oh yeah...want to see my project?

Fred!  It is official, my favorite thing to decorate with at Halloween is skeletons.  I downloaded this skull from The Graphics Fairy when Karen posted it a little while ago.

Here are most of my materials.  I printed the skull onto vellum paper and heat set it with clear embossing powder.  The small wreath form is from DIY Bangles.  I got the opportunity to try out Martha Stewart's new Stucco Paint.  Mixed with black acrylic paint, it was the perfect medium to make this wreath spooky.

It covered wonderfully, and (was almost) dry in a couple hours (the instructions recommend handling after 24 hours).  Ahem, have they met me? Just saying.

When it was dry enough for me to handle, I glued a piece of card stock to the back of the wreath.  I dry brushed it with silver metallic paint before attaching Fred.  I also dry brushed the stucco paint with silver to bring out the texture. It's hanging by some black furry fiber.  Creepy and elegant...that's my Fred!

Happy Halloween my Friends!

  1. I absolutely love it! I'm also a little freaked out ( not by the project) because I just finished a project using that exact same wreath form! I am just sitting here laughing. You will do GREAT at your craft show but I totally understand the range of emotions.
