Use your Silhouette to make a card template

Today, I wanted to show you how I took one of my favorite cards, and made it with my Silhouette (Rocco).
I recently made this card for my friends who moved into their house. You may remember...I made them this subway art sign here, as well.

Before Rocco, I had a paper template that I would trace onto paper and then cut out.

It occurred to me that I could recreate it on my Silhouette.  I used the line and shape tools to draw the parts of the house, and now I have a template.

I even saved a screen shot so you could see it.

The tiny windows were cut down the middle, and I perforated them so they would fold back nice and easy.

I love to make this card with many different papers, but I don't see why you couldn't use one whole sheet of card stock to make it easy peasy easy.

I didn't forget the back...

This stamp already has heart shaped balloon carved into it, but I wanted mine to be more dimensional.  I masked the hearts with painter's tape, stamped it in the ink, and then removed the tape before stamping the image.  I added the heart sequins using a touch of tacky glue.

If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to ask me...okay? Okay!

  1. This is why I want a Silhouette. I love the idea of being able to create your own shapes letters etc. What a perfect house warming card ( and you know I have to say it...have that paper!)

  2. Wow...what a fun activity. Love the cards. Home crafted card have heaps of personality and your cards looks fantastic!

  3. These are such pretty cards.

We have a link-up party going on - Tea Time Thursdays @ Kreative Korner. I would really appreciate if you'd link up some of your awesome posts there. Hope to see you at the party.

I won't deny it, I love comments! Thanks...
