What is love?

Howard Jones anyone?  Hmm... I just did a great job dating myself with that reference.   I will tell you that I love this project I'm going to share today.

Since this upcoming holiday is all about the heart, I made one of my own.  I started with these two wooden pieces...

They measure about two inches in length.  When they are glued together in a particular way...

Pitter patter.

Inspiration struck me as I was looking through my hoard prized collection of papers.  I found a doubled sided sheet that was aptly named Sweet Romance.  I took another tear shaped piece of wood and traced the paper and cut it.

I flipped the paper over and repeated the process.  I used Mod Podge to glue down the papers.

I trimmed and sanded down the papers so the edges were smooth.  I gave it another coat of Mod Podge.  While that was drying, I went through my stash of antique keys. Don't keys and hearts just naturally go together? Unfortunately, mine aren't really antique, and therefore too shiny for my heart.

I used black StazOn ink and a paper towel to lightly sponge over and age the key.

Mod Podge Dimensional Magic covered both parts of the heart, and as it was drying, I added the key to one side.

Is it love? I think so! I can see it on a coat lapel as a pin.  It says Valentine's Day--but could be worn beyond that don't you think?

    That looks super cute!

  2. Mahvelous! Definitely something that can go beyond Valentine's Day and/or be used alone or in a mixed media piece!

  3. Love, love, love your heart! The key is perfect, and so is the dimensional glaze. I guess I am getting to far ahead of myself holiday-wise, because I took one look at those wooden shapes, and I thought to myself "bunny ears"!:)

  4. LOVE it! My kind of craft...filled with heart! :)

  5. The Dimensional Magic really added something! I LOVE it!
