Just clipping along

Who else is in a total state of denial about going back to the real world tomorrow?  Besides me, I mean.

I've been jotting down ideas for the new year. One of them just might be a link up party of my very own.  What do you think? You'd join me, right?  I have to admit, I'm excited by the prospect...

My work space has even been slightly updated and reorganized. I will show you soon, promise.

One good thing about tomorrow is, of course, Brag Monday over at The Graphics Fairy.  My husband found this cool clipboard (thanks!) at A.C. Moore...

Nice, right?  It measures about six by nine inches, and only cost one dollar.  It leaves me wondering...why didn't I find it?  Anyway, I'm glad he did, and here's what I did with it...

This image seemed appropriate with everyone going back to school this week. I'm digging the little boxes with the handwriting "words of wisdom."

I painted the clipboard ivory and printed the image.  I heat set it with embossing powder while the paint dried.

Before I Mod Podged the picture on, I stamped the screen stamp with black StazOn ink.  I love how it mimics the graph under the letters.  I added the flourish in the four corners. That was actually the corner of another stamp that I masked off.

Since StazOn is great on many surfaces, I added the screen stamp to the metal clip.  I like how it isn't  perfect...it just works.

I covered the front and sides with a coat of Mod Podge to seal it.  This size clipboard would be great for  sticky notes or index cards.  It even has a place for a nail head on the back, so it could be put on the wall for functional decor.

  1. What a fun project, Christine! I have an old clipboard just begging for a makeover! And I just bought some Staz on for the first time the other day. I think a linky party would be awesome! I love a good party:)

  2. Your clipboard is awesome! And absolutely, I'll be there if you do a link party! That is, as soon as I get back into making some stuff which has been lacking these past couple of weeks. Happy New Year!

  10. cool project Christine, until I read the directions I wasn't sure how you did it. It kinda looks like silk screening, very neat techniques you used. Does the embossing make the image raised? Does that make the surface too bumpy to write on?

  11. Thank you so much for linking up to "A Little Birdie Told Me...". I love your multi-media approach to this beautiful clip-board with the embossing powder, stamp, Mod Podge, etc. What a creative and beautiful transformation! I hope you'll come by tomorrow to link up another project. I look forward to hearing if you launch your own linky party, and would definitely love to participate! Best, Jenn/Rook No. 17
