He's one lucky dog

A couple of years ago, I searched online for an easy, inexpensive dog treat that I could bake.   Treats can be pricey and let's face it, most of them are processed.  My dog...

(yeah this guy) is delicate.  Don't bother telling him, he won't believe you.  I found a recipe that we both like -- he likes eating them, I like baking them.  I thought I'd share it with you.

I found the recipe at Bullwrinkle.com.  Most of these ingredients are kicking around our pantry on a good day.

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
1/2 cup water (add more if you need to)
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
3 Tbs peanut butter
2 Tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup oats

I did not have cornmeal when I made this batch, so I substituted with extra oats.  First blend your wet ingredients.

Whisk dry ingredients together.

Mix  into the wet mixture to form a ball of dough.

Roll out and cut with a small cookie cutter....over and over and over...

I doubled this batch and had enough to fill three cookie sheets--with no space between them.  Bake them for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.  Turn off the oven and allow the treats to cool inside.

Keep them in an airtight container or freeze them.  I think it's love...

He doesn't sit this still for anything else!

  1. I am going to have to try this for sure, Christine! Well, my little doggie will be the one to try it, I will be the one baking them! I even have a cute little bone shaped cutter, and almost all of the ingredients! Cute pup, btw!

  2. Oh I may have to try these for the princess! She is a fiend for anything with peanut butter...it's the only way I can get her to take meds. And I can make these super small for my little toothless baby (doesn't stop her but she kind of scoops, gums and swallows) . He is one lucky dog but who could resist that face?!

  4. Cute dog! I had to look because he favors my dog Maggie. I just made my girls (dogs) a batch of heart shaped cookies with a similar recipe. They loved them! Their favorite is a recipe with beef broth and molasses in it though.
