A little fall decor

Happy Saturday!  I am very happy to not rush around getting kiddos on a bus and myself to work.  The washer is working overtime, as is the vacumm... and I'm okay with that.

I have been preparing the house for fall, but have felt unenthused by my current autumn decorations.  This is one of the reasons I love blogging.  It is so easy to take a look around and get inspired instantly!

I've had this cute wheelbarrow for years.  I kept looking at it and thinking it needed to be updated.  I looked through some paper that was perfect for fall, and an idea was born.

Isn't this paper great?  I'm embarrassed about how many autumns I've actually had it.  I knew I wanted to somehow take that off-white oak leaf and put it on the pickets of the wheelbarrow. Before I did that, I painted it a sandstone color.

While it was drying, I cut the square I wanted out, marked the back of it, and then cut it into strips. I used Mod Podge to glue them onto the pickets and trimmed the tops.  I let it dry, and sanded the edges with sandpaper and an old nail file.  I covered it with more Mod Podge. This was done for both sides.

I think it looks updated and pretty sophisticated.  I'm thinking about putting a votive candle inside of it.  What do you think?

  3. Oh I love that paper and I love how your wheel barrow turned out. I went to Michaels and JoAnn's today and I must still have Stashbusting on the brain because I bought about 1/2 of what I would have had I not been a stashbuster :)

  4. Wow that turned out way cuter!! I like the one big leaf! I think it would look great piled with pumpkins or squash.
