This is going to be good, I mean bad

I hope you will enjoy this please.  Have a chuckle... heck- roll on the floor with laughter if you like!  My friend Shelle Over at Dreamy Nest?{Not!} is having a Show Me Your Fail Party over at her blog today.  What a great idea, right?

I'll be honest, I like putting my best foot forward in life and that includes my blog.  I'm not so keen on showing everybody my projects that stink, and trust me-I have them!  I'm stepping out of my comfort zone so without further ado...

I started off with this mirror...

Ugh, and it really only gets worse, in my opinion. I painted it white. I had some scrabble tiles and I thought they would fit nicely over that horrid weaving.  I painted them tan and then tried the crackle technique with white glue.

I painted the plain white glue over the tan and while it was tacky I painted over that with white paint.  It crackled and I started to arrange them.  They all didn't fit as wonderfully as I originally thought, so I used my hammer to smack wedge them in.

Anyone giggling yet? When I had them the way I wanted them, I used Gorilla Glue make sure they would stay put.  I always use too much of that stuff, and this time was no different.  Look at this mess...

Oh yes, the squares aren't white anymore.  I attempted to add some color to this thing, by coloring them with watercolor pencils, and then lightly brushing them with water.  Then the glue dissolved because of the water-duh!  You know you want to see the whole mess, don't you?

I think I'm a little nauseous.

Thanks for joining me today, and I promise something way more attractive for next time!

Thank you, too, for posting about the party (active until Friday!) and linking up. Have you looked at the others? I've laughed and cried today. So wonderful to know that we're not all perfect - ya' know? Blessings my sweet friend. xoxoxox

  3. Don't think of it as a fail. Think of it as new stash to bust! I have a love hate relationship with Gorilla Glue...I'm sure it's user error but I am not as in love with the stuff as a lot of people. Talk about your bubble bubble toil and TROUBLE!

  7. Glad I'm not alone with my collection of fails! But I'm glad you took a risk and tried, it and to be honest when you were describing what you planned to do it all sounded very reasonable and like it should turn out, in theory!

  14. I always use WAY too much gorilla glue too! Every time I use gorilla glue and I get that layer or styrofoamish glue overflow! I've actually perfected a technique for removing the over flow, with my exacto knife! {that's kind of sad....} even if the project wasn't a success, the idea was awesome!
