Meet Fred...

I have a confession to make. Ready?  I'm not a huge fan of Halloween...  Still with me? Whew!  I'm not sure why that is, because I love fall so much.  I will say that the huge number of creative Halloween projects out there are very inspiring.

That being said, The Graphics Fairy has been very generous and timely about providing images that are perfect for the holiday (thanks!).  I am still stashbusting, so I used a candle that I have had for probably more than five years.  It was still in the original wrapping!  Really. Not kidding.

I knew I wanted to use a skeleton that I had seen on Karen's blog.  I printed it and covered it in clear embossing ink and powder.  After I melted the powder, I cut it out with my little sharp scissors and then the exacto knife.  This was the most time consuming part of the project.  I used Mod Podge to stick it to the candle.

He looked cool, but he needed some...jewelry.  I had some black wire (24 gauge), and I wound it around the top of the candle.  I  used a handle of a paintbrush to make coils in the wire, and added black beads.

To finish, I cut a scrap piece of paper with a decorative scissor and wrapped it around the bottom of Fred's candle.  Oh yeah, apparently the kiddos thought he required a name in addition to the gems.  Welcome Fred!

Maybe because it was never that cool in my family and I usually just spent it at church Harvest parties? I don't know.. but I am totally with you on this one! But it was always my fiances favorite as a kid so I guess I will jump on the Halloween train :)

  15. You're not alone on the "not the biggest Halloween fan" thing. Me either, but I'm getting better. Love how great this candle turned out. Looks like a really expensive decor item from a boutique! Totally amazing that it was a stash bust!
PS - gave you a blog award! Come and see! I'm always inspired by all you do!
