Welcome to the war room

I have been wanting to show you my blogging and craft space for some time. Kate from Centsational Girl is hosting a Where do you blog? link party, and it is there I found my opportunity!  I want to say "thanks a million" to my friend Shel over at Dreamy Nest? Not! because I found out about this from her, and I was inspired by her getting her space ready for the viewing public!

I realize how very fortunate I am to have such a space in my home.  When we moved in to this house, this room was supposed to be the formal dining room. After my husband and I giggled about how much we would actually use it for that purpose, we considered other ideas.  I actually found the idea in a home decor magazine...another family had done a similar thing with their space.

This is where I blog, facebook, and now...twitter (not even sure if I said that right!).  I love this little workspace because I can close the doors and no one will see the mess. And trust me folks, it does not look like this day in and day out...ask my kids, they'll tell you! Sell Mommo right down the river!  Also, I love the Mom's parking only sign...

This is a buffet that houses papers, craft stuff, and photos.  I am proud of the framed magnetic boards above it...my husband and I made them. (I'll share!)  One of my favorite things about this room, is that my kids' art work is displayed on every wall.

Ah, the lockers! I love that piece of furniture.  I actually thought for a brief shining moment that if I had this, my kids would suddenly hang their jackets and book bags in it...  Hey, a girl can dream!

Since my blog is about crafty things, I thought it was appropriate to show you that part of the space too.  The tall shelving unit holds baby books, jewelry findings and beads, and other books too.  Did you notice the little chairs on top of the tall units?  I thought they looked neat on top, like unusual little shelves.

And here are the two reasons my husband calls this the "war room."  I knew I wanted maps in this room, and they've been here since we moved in and painted it.

This is rare friends, even I don't see the actual surface of this table that much! I am so glad I took pictures.

I hope you enjoyed sharing my space with me, it's a happy, inspirational, and productive place, and I am so delighted that I could share it with all of you.

  1. So cool! I love the closed off desk where your computer is. And I love all the art/craft stuff. And everything you have in that room is so inspiring! I love it and want a room like that.
I love the locker, too. And yeah, I'd have that same idea that the heavens would part because of that one piece of "organizational" furniture and my kids would automatically hang their stuff up. We're foolin' ourselves... LOL
    Great space!!! I'm jealous!

  10. Hi Christine,
Your space is so cool! I love how you took a room (formal dining room) that you probably would never use, and turned it into something totally functional that works for You! Love the kids' lockers, too!

  14. I agree with you that just because a floor plan says it has to be a room that its set in concrete...and I have the same sign with my name on it (Kathy)-my friends love it; my mom bought it for me years ago...and it is great when you can just close the armoire and hide your stuff :)
