Christmas in... August?

Of course!  All of the craft stores have holiday paraphernalia all over the place, why shouldn't we get in the mood?  My friend Carol over at The Answer is Chocolate is hosting her second Holiday Open House, and I wanted to show you what I made.

We've all seen those take out boxes they have for gift wrapping, right?  Personally, I find them expensive and not that pretty (sorry).  And since we all know that I live with ICTMTM Syndrome (I-can-totally-make-that-myself), that is exactly what I did.  These are the things you'll need:

I'm going to let you in on a secret too.  I have to thank my husband for this (thanks!). He went to our local Asian food store and got these plain take out boxes for $.10 each.  Yes, you read that right! Needless to say, I have a fair amount of them left.

All I did was find a holiday paper that I loved and got creative with my decorating.  I used a craft glue stick to put the paper on the box, and further embellished with Stickles for a little bit of sparkle.

I love putting homemade cookies and treats in these, and giving them as gifts.  I just put a sheet of wax paper in the bottom of the box and add the yummies.  Merry Friday!

  4. Wow! I am so impressed at your hubby getting them from the Asian restaurant! I would never have thought of that! I just love your idea! I think it would be neat to use pretty old Christmas cards, too. And I still need to get some of those stickles! I was at Hobby Lobby the other night and totally forgot! Darn!

I had lost my craftiness for awhile but visiting blogs like yours have inspired me to head down to the basement and pull out my old supplies. Yeah; mostly old..will have to head to A.c Moore..or think inexpensive like you did..
