There's nothing like a good book...cover

Good day!  I wanted to share my latest project, which was inspired by a couple of wonderful pictures from The Graphics Fairy.  I was also inspired because I went shopping to find the elements for my project...in my craft table!  I love projects like this, when I actually go through my stockpile of findings, and come across things I love, and maybe forgot about.  To start, I have these chip art pieces.

I chose the top two pieces to work with, and painted them with black (shocking!) acrylic paint mixed with a pearlized medium for a touch of shimmer.  I printed my pictures and cut them out, inked around the edges and used Mod Podge to glue them down. I also gave them a coat of One Step Crackle.

Then, I just had some fun with the embellishments.  Have you seen the Fragments from Tim Holtz? Just what I need- a new thing to obsess over!  They are the small clear squares on top of the watch, and in the corners of the picture with many watches. They are so versatile, simply put-I love them.

I created further interest with some paper borders (that I made), small rick-rack, eyelets, and self-stick gems.  I took seperate pictures so you can see the detail.

When I started these, I planned to put them together in a small book. However,  I felt guilty covering one of them up, so I decided to use each one individually as it's own cover.

  2. Very pretty and unique. You did a nice creative job on these. I love the vintage clock graphics. I know they are book covers, but with a bit of embellishment they would be totally frameable as art!

  10. Wow - these are great! I love the clocks and the embellishments you added. Did you have any problem with the ink running when you mod podged the design? I thought I'd heard that was a problem.
I love the covers! (Here visiting from All Thingz Related) :)

  13. Those are lovely, and I'm glad you decided to use each as its own cover. I wouldn't have been able to pick a front cover from between them either. Love how you used what you had!
